Positive: Remote mountain village at 1,500 m altitude, accessible via a steep sandy track (4×4 required!). Beautiful views and terraced fields. Very good, fresh, traditional local food. Special thanks for providing a separate heater — without it, we would not have been able to stay with two small children in single-digit temperatures, as the entire hotel is unheated, including the common areas. The property is located on a north-facing slope, where the sun reaches the area only from around 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in December. As a result, it does not warm up, and there is no opportunity to sit in the sun in the evening. Don’t forget a sleeping bag and a thick winter jacket — a bit like staying in an alpine mountain hut.

Negative: Good starting point for hiking, although the trails—particularly the route toward Wakan—are no longer properly signposted. Despite being experienced in mountain hiking and using a map, we were unable to find the route due to missing markings and had to turn back. We could not fully understand the double charge for two rooms when we had originally booked two rooms but ultimately stayed together as four in one room (also due to the low temperatures). It is advisable to clarify this in advance; in our experience elsewhere, this has generally not been an issue. No card payment possible. Be sure to bring sufficient cash, or alternatively a cash transfer/payment app.
